Alright for you stalwart Ricks survivors a mental picture instantly pops when you hear Big Judds... massive pounds of meat between two hamburger buns. HUGE hamburgers. So big that you get your picture taken and displayed if you finish one of those bad boys. Thankfully I never achieved that goal. In fact, we usually split one burger between four people. Now, take Big Judds and think... pancakes. I'm talking big-ole-sloppin-over-the-side-of-the-plate sized pancakes. But it doesn't stop there... the flavors. Last Sat we indulged, only our second time. But I had "hear me Roar" which is pancakes with Frosted Flakes and strawberries in it. Can you say amazing. I'm working on perfecting the recipe at home so I can seduce any visitors. Other enticers have oreo, peanut butter, honey and oats, banana and caramel, you name it they'll make it and they'll make it good and big. I'm serious... it's worth checking out. And this is coming from someone who doesn't even really enjoy going out to breakfast. The name ... The Griddle.
So I think I might have a problem. Remember the good ole days of skipping school and the thrill that accompanied it? Is it wrong when you get the same thrill for having your 3 year old skip preschool? A vicarious adrenaline rush? Bizarre. And just think- I have the power to let kids skip school for like the next 20-25 years. This could be trouble. While I'm on the subject I'd like to publicly admit that I'm spoiled. So on "preschool skip day" Dallin woke up a little late, which provoked the the need to skip. We hung around in the bed watching the Bee movie until we found it appropriate to walk the 3 or 4 blocks to get a pancake breakfast (no, not at the Griddle. If that were in walking distance we would be in big trouble.) It was already a perfect 72 degrees when we ventured out. On our walk back we came to the consensus, me and my 2 and 3 year olds, that it would only be appropriate to head down the hill to the beach. By then the 80 degree weather was perfect to even dip our feet in the water. Wow the ocean breeze, not a cloud in the sky... what more can you ask for. Yes, in my neck of the woods I guess this is what could be called a "stay-cation." I am spoiled, I know. And to top it off, we were "skipping school" while enjoying this, which is only frosting on the cake.......

ReplyDeleteLOL! I love it! And yes, you are spoiled but I still love it! It reminds of the good ole days when we lived together. You remember when you were substituting at summit and you wrote me a note to get out of class so that I could come and hang out with you in the class you were in? Oh good times!

I have never heard of "post pregnancy" cravings but pancakes are my kyptonite! I hear about them and I am in the kitchen cooking them up in 5 minutes. Infact...see ya! p.s. wanna see the new house too. I don't even know where this utopia is! I'm so out of the loop!
